ITIS Mobile

Under-notification of TB cases remains a perennial problem that the Department of Health (DOH) aim to improve. Mandatory notification of TB is essential for routine surveillance and for determining the burden of disease in the country. It also provides data to detect outbreaks, and to plan, implement and evaluate healthcare programs.

The Comprehensive Tuberculosis Elimination Plan Act (Republic Act No. 10767, section 12) requires all public and private health centers, hospitals and facilities to observe the national protocol on TB management and to notify the DOH of all TB cases.

The Integrated Tuberculosis Information System (ITIS) is the official application of the DOH Philippines for the recording and reporting of TB cases by all DOTS providing facilities and laboratories. This application was developed and maintained by the Knowledge Management and Information Technology Service of DOH.

Key Features of ITIS Mobile:

  • Easily notifies the DOH of TB cases
  • Works offline and syncs data automatically
  • Tracks treatment outcome of patients via dashboard
  • Ensures security of patient data

eTBMAC

The Electronic Tuberculosis Medical Advisory Committee (eTBMAC) is a web-based platform interfaced with a mobile health application to provide effective and efficient support on difficult or challenging cases of TB (both susceptible and drug-resistant) from the members of the Regional and National TB MAC to the medical frontliners using digital technology.

Consistent with the latest policies and procedures of the National Tuberculosis Control Program of the Department of Health, a Tuberculosis Medical Advisory Committee (TB MAC) shall be established at least per region. The TB MAC is a multi-disciplinary case management committee composed of physicians and nurses with expertise on TB management as well as specialists on other fields of medicine to provide technically sound and evidence-based recommendations to clinicians and health care providers who have challenging or difficult cases of TB to achieve correct diagnosis and management, to prevent development of further drug resistance and further complications due to TB disease.

The impact of the pandemic digitally transformed the way physical meetings are conducted and compelled all to adapt to the changing landscape and subsequently adopt various digital platforms.

Key Features of eTBMAC

  • Enables healthcare workers, regional secretariat, regional TB MAC, and national TB MAC to manage challenging cases of TB
  • Pulls and prepares relevant information about the case from the Integrated TB Information System (ITIS)
  • Provides a processing workflow from enrollment to treatment outcome of cases

  • Enables various members of the Committee to provide recommendations on the cases
  • Provides quarterly reports on all cases submitted and reviewed by the Committee
