DOH, USAID, Pateros kick off local National Lung Month Celebration

The Municipality of Pateros, in partnership with USAID and DOH, commemorates the Lung Month celebration and signifies its commitment to get back on track towards tuberculosis (TB) elimination with the launch of the “Ayos Ka Lungs?: Integrating COVID-19 Response and TB Elimination Efforts” campaign.

Our goal is to help the government ensure continuous provision of TB treatment and services in communities amid this COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Yolanda Oliveros, Acting Chief, USAID/Philippines Office of Health

USAID will support Pateros to train healthcare workers on infection prevention and control, both for TB and COVID-19, community TB screening, contact tracing, and strengthening the municipality’s TB program as they integrate TB elimination efforts with its COVID-19 response. The partnership is conducting a systematic screening and clinical evaluation of persons who are at high risk of developing TB, such as people who are contacts of people diagnosed with TB.
