In Cavite, amid COVID-19, TB healthcare workers supported by the De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute get a boost in their work of monitoring TB patients’ treatment adherence. Thanks to ConnecTB, a mobile health application developed by USAID and the Department of Health.

The pandemic hampers the ability of the Cavite TB healthcare workers called “kagabay” to monitor and provide support to TB patients enrolled in the satellite treatment centers in the province. Using digital technology, ConnecTB will help ensure that the satellite treatment nurses are updated in real-time on the status of their TB patients. The integration of ConnecTB with the work of the kagabay was launched during a special episode produced by the National Youth Commission’s Cyberspace League, a mobile FM radio station.
